Overview of the Grant Application Process

• Application forms are available from the Texas Lawyers' Assistance Program (TLAP) or the Austin Bar Association (ABA).
• All applicants must be receiving case management services from the TLAP staff.
• Applications must be submitted to TLAP.
• Applications will be verified for treatment efficacy and financial need by the TLAP staff and forwarded to the Trustees without any identifying information.
• The Austin Bar Association Foundation Board will appoint the three (3) Trustees.
• At least two Trustees must approve the grant for the funds to be distributed. Three Trustees must approve all requests of payment over one thousand dollars ($1,000).
• Applications will not be accepted from recipients who have already received a grant and have not initiated good faith efforts to repay the original grant.
• Funds are never paid directly to the Applicant. Funds are always paid to the providers.
