Black & White Suits in Support of Pakistani Lawyers, THIS Wednesday, November 14

Members of the Austin Bar Association received an e-mail letter on Friday from President Jo Ann Merica asking all Austin attorneys to wear black suits and white shirts in support of the lawyers in Pakistan who have risked their lives to preserve democracy and the rule of law.

Memorial Service in Honor of Larry Langley, November 13

Larry Langley, Austin Bar President from 1986 - 1987, passed away Nov. 8 surrounded by family at his home. A memorial service has been planned for Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive.

Larry attended Texas A & M University, but received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas.

After graduation from law school, Larry accepted a job as an undercover special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Throughout his career, he was a partner with the law firms of Jackson Walker (formerly Small, Craig and Werkenthin) and Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He served as director of the State Bar of Texas. The Austin Bar Association recognized his commitment to the legal community by presenting him the 2004 Professionalism Award.
