Volunteer for LegalLine, Tuesday, November 6
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Austin Young Lawyers Association and the Lawyer Referral Service is looking for volunteers for LegalLine, which is held the first Tuesday of every month. LegalLine provides the public the opportunity to obtain answers to simple legal questions from licensed attorneys. AYLA is expecting an especially high call volume Nov. 6 since LegalLine will be featured on News 8 throughout the day before the phone lines open. Please e-mail Adam Schramek to volunteer.

Rivkin will discuss the key legal and policy issues relating to the Bush Administration's use of executive power in the Global War on Terror, and will argue that the Constitution's framers intended to create a strong executive power in American government that is essential for successful American foreign policy today.

Marie Hejl and AYLA: A Recipe for Charity
Marie Hejl - often known as the "cooking lawyer" around Austin - is teaming up with the Austin Young Lawyers Association to raise money for Austin Young Lawyers Association's annual Holiday Baskets project. This project provides gifts (both useful and fun) and approximately $135 of groceries to an average of 75 Austin-area families.
Marie's first cookbook, Cooking With Marie: On Any Occasion!, is now available for pre-orders and will continue to be on sale throughout the holiday season. For all books purchased by AYLA members, Marie will donate all profits to Holiday Baskets.
So knock out some of your holiday shopping early and help make Holiday Baskets a success. You can purchase a book at www.withmarie.com and have it signed at the AYLA Holiday party Dec. 6.

Suits for Santa
Former President of AYLA, Jeff Rusk, is working in conjunction with AYLA to bring suits to SafePlace, a shelter for battered and sexually abused women. Please bring gently worn items to the AYLA office at 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700, now through Dec. 14.
Items can also be dropped off at any Austin Comet Cleaners. All business attire is accepted - suits, shoes, belts, ties, blouses, skirts, etc.
Many abused women are often forced to leave their homes quickly without clothes or personal belongings. Your donation will help these women begin a new, independent life.
