Trick or Treat: AYLA Free CLE, October 31
Topic: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Travis County Local Rules But Were Afraid To Ask
Date: Wed., Oct. 31
Time: Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Austin Bar Association, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700
Each quarter, AYLA holds a free CLE for its members over the lunch hour.
This fall, the CLE will focus on mastering the Central Docket and the
Travis County Local Rules. All those awaiting November Bar results are
also invited to attend.
As anyone who practices in state court knows (and as out-of-towners
quickly learn), the Local Rules can be scary and tricky (and lead to
blood curdling screams from judges when violated). This CLE will not
only review the basics, but address real problems confronted by AYLA
members over the years and how they were resolved.
Led by a panel of senior AYLA attorneys, including former and current
staff attorneys for state court judges, this CLE will be especially
beneficial for lawyers new to Travis County (and those awaiting Bar
results!).
So grab some lunch (lunch will not be provided) and head over to the Bar
offices October 31 for this free Halloween Treat.

Are You Smarter Than a 2nd Grader?
You don’t have to be a contestant on FOX’s new game show to answer this one. A new Partners in Education study group
program needs volunteers to work with groups of two to five students. Volunteers are needed for 2nd grade reading and
grades 8 to 9 math.
Research has shown that study groups make the biggest difference in children grasping concepts and retaining knowledge.
These study groups will help students feel successful and grow from working together.
Study groups meet in class for 45 minutes and review curriculum provided by the teacher. Substitutes are available if a
volunteer cannot make it. Also, attorneys can volunteer individually or a law firm can work together to adopt a class.
For more information, please contact mrobinson@austinpartners.org or
call 512/637-0976.
