The centerpiece of the Texas Leadership Forum is the opportunity for some of the best and brightest young professionals in Texas to engage in hands-on breakout sessions aimed at discovering and developing solutions to the challenges facing our great state, and compete for the opportunity to work with members of the Texas Legislature to develop legislation to address these issues.

The weekend also provides plenty of opportunities to network, build relationships, and collaborate with your peers and colleagues in the setting of our beautiful State Capitol. (CLE is available for legal professionals.)

This year the agenda includes some exceptional guests, such as Texas House of Representatives Speaker Pro Tempore Sylvester Turner, Texas State Senator Kel Seliger, Clark Ervin, Director of the Homeland Security Initiative at the Aspen Institute, and John Boettiger, President of the Texas Lyceum and many other outstanding local and state leaders.

Big Bear Hugs and Books Needed for Austin Adoption Day

Children are not the only ones being adopted on Adoption Day. Several hundred teddy bears also find a new home and family on this special day. One large teddy bear is presented to each child being adopted in Travis County, and one small bear is given to each of their siblings.

Bears and books geared toward toddlers through young adults may be dropped off at the District Court offices at the Courthouse or brought to the Austin Bar’s office at 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700. The Adoption Day Committee asks that bears (or other stuffed animals) be new or very gently loved and books be in perfect condition.

To participate in this memorable and rewarding opportunity, contact Denise Hyde at 479-9911 or Kat Hinson at the Austin Bar at 472-0279 x107.
