Answer the Phone and Help LegalLine, October 2
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700
Volunteer to answer phones for the new LegalLine program. LegalLine will be held the first Tuesday of
every month between 5:30 and 7:30. The commitment is small, just over two hours on a Tuesday night
(volunteers are asked to arrive at 5:15 pm for a short orientation). All calls are anonymous, so your commitment
ends when you hang up the phone.

Federal Court Practice Seminar, Register by October 5
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Location: Austin Bar Association, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700
MCLE (pending): 7 hours, including 1 hour of ethics
Cost: $150; free to current Federal Bar Association members who register before Oct. 5
Sponsored by the Austin Chapter of the FBA and the Austin Bar Association, this seminar presents the nuts
and bolts of federal court practice, with a focus on filing, new federal sentencing guidelines, and electronic
discovery. The seminar satisfies the course requirement for admission to the Western District of Texas.
All registration forms must be postmarked by Oct. 31 to ensure a space at the seminar.

AYLA Community Service Day at Capital Area Food Bank
This event has been rescheduled. There will be more information to come.
Come out and volunteer at the Capital Area Food Bank! Everyone must wear sneakers or tennis shoes
for this project, and all are encouraged to wear pants or knee-length shorts with at least short sleeves.

Advocacy Inc. Needs YOUR Help
Funded by a grant from the Travis County Women Lawyers Association, Advocacy Inc., a non-profit that
helps the disabled, is hosting a free seminar entitled "Understanding Your Child's Special Education Rights"
to educate parents about services they are entitled to and how to advocate for them. Advocacy Inc. would like
Austin Bar members to reach out to parents or groups that are connected to these children to spread the word
about the seminar. If you know anyone who would benefit from this free seminar, please pass along the following

Volunteers Needed to Help with Wills Clinic, October 25
The Conley-Guerrero Senior Citizens Activity Center has asked Volunteer Legal Services to conduct a Wills
Clinic for their members who meet the VLS income eligibility requirements. The Wills Clinic will be held at the
Conley-Guerrero Center. Attorneys will have an initial meeting with their clients on Oct. 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
On Nov. 8 at 10:00 a.m., attorneys will meet to review and execute the documents. To volunteer, please contact Anna K.
