The Austin Bar Association will be presenting the David H. Walter Community Excellence Award and the Distinguished Lawyer Awards at the 2010 Austin Bar Foundation Gala on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010
The Austin Bar is currently accepting nominations for these prestigious awards. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 25, to the Austin Bar Association, 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700, Austin, Texas 78701 or e-mailed to DeLaine Ward at < ahref="mail:DeLaine@austinbar.org">DeLaine@austinbar.org.
The David H. Walter Community Excellence Award is presented to an Austin Bar member who has recently made a significant impact in the community and, at the same time, raised the profile of the profession.
The 2010 Austin Bar Distinguished Lawyer Award recognizes the dedication and hard work of an attorney who has practiced for 30 years or more and has significantly contributed to the profession and the community.

Special "Lawyers' Nights" at Austin Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure," Sept. 25
Austin Shakespeare is performing "Measure for Measure" at the Rollins Theater of the Long Center through Sept. 27. "Measure" is one of Shakespeare's most law-oriented plays, and an opportunity for lawyers to explore the themes of the play will be presented for members of the Austin Bar.
Friday, Sept. 25, Austin lawyers will be able to obtain ethics CLE credit prior to the show when Claude Ducloux speaks on "Shakespeare’s Ethical Quandaries: Ten Ethical Problems in 'Measure for Measure' Analyzed Under the Texas Rules of Ethics" at 7:00 p.m. at the Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive. Admission is $35 or $15 with the price of a ticket. Proceeds to benefit Austin Shakespeare. To purchase tickets, contact alex@austinshakespeare.org. Experience Austin with Leadership Austin
Experience Austin is an informative, interactive orientation to the city that introduces participants to Austin's issues, icons, institutions, and the people actively involved in creating solutions. The program is presented as a five session survey of Austin, including behind the scenes tours and introductions to leaders in the local government, economic, education, healthcare, and arts and entertainment communities. The program is ideal for those who are new to town or want to become more deeply engaged with all Austin has to offer. Help Put a Texas Twist on Austin Bar Foundation's 2010 Gala
The Austin Bar Foundation Gala is getting a makeover. The 2010 event will be Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Austin Music Hall minus the formal tuxedos. Instead, grab your boots and Stetson for A Night Under the Texas Stars in Texas tuxedos.
