Masters in Trial – A Trial Demonstration, RSVP by September 21
Time: noon
Location: Hyatt Regency Austin
Topic: A Trial Demonstration in a Personal Injury/Premises Liability Case from Opening Statement to Jury Deliberations
Date: Friday, Sept. 28
Location: Hyatt Regency Austin, 208 Barton Springs
Cost: a special Austin Bar member price of $330
CLE: 7.0 hours
This demonstration makes CLE fun! The Austin Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates brings you an actual
examination of witnesses and experts before an Austin District Judge and a real jury, complete with courtroom visuals.
Following the presentation of the evidence by the participating attorneys, the judge will give the jury their instructions
and they will retire to the jury room to deliberate. The jury deliberations will be broadcast live into the seminar room,
giving the audience an opportunity to view the evidence, strategy, and technique that made an impression on the jurors.
The trial is based on a personal injury case resulting from a mugging in a motel parking lot, allegedly causing the
plaintiff's post traumatic stress disorder. However, the skills you will see demonstrated are applicable to virtually
every other civil case.

Adoption Day Teddy Bear and Book Drive
Children are not the only ones being adopted on Adoption Day. Several hundred teddy bears also find a new home and family
on this special day. One large teddy bear is presented to each child being adopted in Travis County, and one small bear is
given to each of their siblings.
Beginning September 6, bears and books geared toward toddlers through young adults may be dropped off at the District Court
offices at the Courthouse or brought to the Austin Bar’s office at 816 Congress Ave., Suite 700. The Adoption Day Committee
asks that bears (or other stuffed animals) be new or very gently loved and books be in perfect condition.
To participate in this memorable and rewarding opportunity, contact Denise Hyde at 479-9911 or Kat Hinson at the Austin Bar
at 472-0279.
