Understanding Long-Term Care Insurance: What You Need to Know

The next time you gather with your friends, listen to some of their conversations. If your friends are in their late forties or fifties, much of the talk won't be about their children; instead the conversation will be about their parents and their long-term care issues and concerns.

This type of scenario has been a real wake up call, so many are asking what they can do so their children are not faced with the same problems. A solution for many is Long-Term Care Insurance, which is designed to help pay for the cost of long-term care services if you need them. Depending on the type of policy and coverage selected, this insurance can provide coverage for services in many settings such as your own home, adult day services, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. Some policies even provide a cash benefit once it's established you are eligible for services.

Peter Berardino, who has worked with the Austin Bar for over 20 years on its SEP and insurance needs, will be happy to provide you with free information on long-term care. He is also offering a discount to Austin Bar members on long-term care policies. Please feel free to contact him at 512-482-9026 or pberardino@metlife.com.
