Volunteers Needed for National Healthcare Decision Day April 13 through 17

Date: Monday - Friday, April 13-17

Seton Family of Hospitals is partnering with AYLA for National Healthcare Decision Day during the week of April 13-17 and is looking for volunteers. Healthcare Decision Day is a nationwide effort to call attention to the importance of every adult taking the time to complete Advance Directives. Some studies show that as many as 80 percent of adults do not have Advance Directives. AYLA wants to be part of changing that statistic.

Seton and AYLA will be conducting a series of "Education Day" workshops during the week of April 13 through 17 to educate patients and hospital staff about Advance Directives. We need attorneys who can volunteer two hours of time during that week to assist with the workshops. If you did not attend the training on March 5, we can provide you the materials. We currently need volunteers for the following time slots:

  • April 13 - 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. Seton Northwest
  • April 14 - 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. Seton Williamson
  • April 14 - 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Seton Williamson
  • April 15 - 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. Dell Children's Medical
  • April 16 - 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. University Medical Center Brackenridge
Please RSVP to Julie Wright at jwright@fulbright.com or Nancy Saylor at Nsaylor@seton.org if you are able to participate.

State Bar of Texas Ballot Instructions Getting Caught in Spam Filters

The State Bar of Texas sent out e-mails on April 1 with a voter authorization number and voting instructions. Apparently, many of these e-mails were caught in spam filters. If you have not received the voting instructions via e-mail, please check your spam filter or contact your firm's IT person to check the firm's filter. Other suggestions can be accessed on the State Bar's Web site.

In addition, paper ballots and instructions were sent by U.S. mail to all eligible State Bar members. If you have not received your Voter Authorization Number (VAN) by e-mail or U.S. mail by April 8, 2009, or your VAN is lost, please call 1-800-218-4026 for assistance Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. Voting for State Bar and TYLA leadership is available until April 30, 2009.
